Grapefruit Soda (Jarritos / Squirt)

Mexican grapefruit sodas — Jarritos Toronja, Squirt, and Fresca (with caveats about sweetness) — built on cane sugar and real grapefruit flavor are the Paloma's traditional mixer. A proper Paloma is tequila, lime, salt, and grapefruit soda over ice — no fresh juice required. A craft bar's version uses fresh grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and club soda; both approaches are legitimate.
